AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES
AND MY 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE …

(1) A strong cold front moved through the Austin area in the 2 to 3am hour this morning with few light patches of rain and isolated rain showers. Following this frontal passage, we’ll much cooler temperatures and strong northerly winds today under a clearing sky. This pattern will persist into mid week with a warming trend in advance of a another weaker reinforcing cold front due by midday into afternoon on Thursday. This will basically keep the dry weather pattern in place late week through our upcoming weekend.

(2) An observational note to conclude on today.. the NWS/National Hurricane Center (NHC) is anticipating surface low pressure to develop over the coming days over the northwestern Caribbean Sea. According to NHC meteorologists, there is a 30% chance of development into a tropical cyclone over the next 5 days as the system drifts west northwestward. I’ll keep an eye on this system.

NWS/Weather Prediction Center rainfall guidance, for the IH35 corridor over the next seven days, forecasts no precipitation with temperatures near to slightly below average overall through Sunday.

MY FORECAST CONFIDENCE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS…

AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES
AND MY 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE …

(1) A dry and stable weather pattern has taken hold for the IH35 corridor and will continue into and through the weekend with sunshine and warmer temperatures.

(2) A strong cold front will move through the area by daybreak Monday. At this point, a relatively dry and stable air mass in advance of the front will keep rain out of my forecast as the front passes. Following the frontal passage, we’ll see unseasonably cool temperatures and strong northerly winds across our area to start the new week under a clear sky. This pattern will persist into mid week in advance of a another weaker reinforcing cold front due by midday into afternoon on Thursday. This will basically keep the cooler than average dry weather pattern in place late week into next weekend.

NWS/Weather Prediction Center rainfall guidance, in their forecast, suggests only marginal rainfall (less than 0.10″) for the IH35 corridor over the next seven days (through Thursday) with temperatures near to slightly above seasonal averages through Sunday then below to well below average for next week.

MY FORECAST CONFIDENCE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS…
Today through Tuesday..
