AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES
AND MY 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE …

(1) With abundant sunshine, with southerly surface winds having returned, temperatures will be warming into tomorrow.

(2) Another stronger cold frontal passage is expected by early tomorrow night. As much colder air moves southward over the area, an approaching upper level low pressure area from the west will create atmospheric lift and will result in increasing cloudiness and perhaps even precipitation chances in a brief overrunning pattern on Thursday. I am thinking that the atmosphere will be a little short on moisture with this event and any rain chances will be south and southeast of our local area. Surface temperatures, although much colder in the wake the front, are still forecast be above freezing during the time period that precipitation will most likely occur. In addition, afternoon highs today and tomorrow in the 70s will mean the ground will still be quite warm on Thursday. Bottom line, even if we were to get a little sleet or a few snow flakes as this system passes, there will be little impact.

3) In the wake of the disturbance, skies will clear again late Thursday night and Friday and will continue that way through the upcoming weekend. Temperatures will continue to be well below seasonal averages through the weekend and into next week with a light to moderate freeze, especially in outlying and low lying areas Thursday night into Friday and again Friday night.

NWS/Weather Prediction Center rainfall guidance is predicting rainfall of less than 0.25 inch for our area over the next seven days.

MY FORECAST CONFIDENCE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS…
High to very high confidence through tomorrow and tomorrow night then lower confidence, with any precipitation, Thursday into Thursday night. A high confidence forecast returns for Friday into early next week.

AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES
AND MY 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE …

(1) With surface low pressure developing over west Texas, we’re seeing a return southerly surface wind. Temperatures will be warming, with abundant sunshine, to well above seasonal averages today.

(2) Another stronger cold front will move quickly through the area late tonight with a few clouds but, other than the wind shift, gusty/strong wind and the arrival of the much cooler air, I am not expecting much in the way of sensible weather to accompany the frontal passage.

(3) Skies will partially clear with abundant sunshine and temperatures falling back to below seasonal averages for our weekend. Expect a windy day, with wind gusts in excess of 40 mph, tomorrow. Another weaker reinforcing cold front is expected to pass by early Monday.

(4) With abundant sunshine, as the surface high in the wake of the weak front Monday moves to the east and southerly surface winds return, temperatures will warm a bit – in fact, back to above seasonal averages – by Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of yet another cold frontal passage on late Wednesday night into early Thursday. Initial guidance suggests an approaching upper level low pressure area from the west by the end of next week which could result in increasing cloudiness and perhaps even precipitation chances in an overrunning pattern but forecast confidence is rather low by the time get out that far in the forecast.

NWS/Weather Prediction Center rainfall guidance is predicting little if any rainfall for our area over the next seven days.

MY FORECAST CONFIDENCE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS…
High to Very High Confidence through Wednesday with Lower Confidence Thereafter
