…. A Dry and Stable Weather Pattern Continues ….
…. Daytime High Temperatures Warming a Bit ….

On this Monday morning…. a trough.. or line.. of surface low pressure extends westward across the northwestern gulf coast of Louisiana and Texas into the Rio Grande country around Laredo then into Mexico and then extending northward from southwest Texas through eastern New Mexico and southeastern Colorado. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our local surface winds are light north northeasterly.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere… an area of upper level high pressure is sandwiched over the southern Rockies and west Texas between troughs of low pressure one that is situated over the eastern third of the USA and the other one over the western third of the country. As a result of this pattern, the upper level winds over south central Texas and the Austin metro area, about 18,000 feet above the ground, are light north northeasterly.

Surface high pressure to the distant northeast of the area continues to move eastward as low pressure continues to develops to our west. This will result in a return south southeasterly surface wind flow by later tonight into tomorrow. Even with the return south southeasterly wind flow, I expect the stable weather pattern to continue across the area.

As low level moisture increases a bit, we’ll see a bit of an increase in clouds over the coming days. At the same time, the upper level high pressure area to our west will intensify its hold on Texas with daytime high temperatures on the way up as well.

Overall, over the next seven days, temperatures will be near to slightly above average with no precipitation expected.
