AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES
AND MY 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE …

(1) Our atmosphere continues to look quite stable and very summer like. Locally for the IH35 corridor, I am continuing to keep it dry with the typical late summer weather pattern prevailing with afternoon high temperatures continuing to be above seasonal averages with highs near or slightly above 100 today.

(2) As the upper level high overhead starts to weaken a bit tonight into tomorrow and shift more west of our area, a southwestward moving cold front pushing into northeast Texas today into tonight will likely pull up stationary to our northeast. I expect little change locally since the weakening frontal remnants will remain to our northeast. However, with the weakening of the upper level high, daytime highs will fall back into the mid to upper 90s with abundant sunshine for tomorrow and Sunday.

(3) As the upper level winds become a but more favorable (more northerly), another slightly stronger cold front will moves into and through our area from the northwest by Sunday night and off the Texas coast by Monday afternoon. No precipitation is expected with frontal passage while afternoon temperatures behind the front will fall back to being closer to normal for this time of year and overnight lows for all of the area fall into the 60s finally!!.

(4) Beyond the seven day forecast period, current tropical depression #9 over the southern Caribbean Sea is forecast to have become much better developed as it moves northward over western Cuba toward the west coast of Florida. While it is still too early to say exactly where the system will end up and exactly how strong it’ll be, I am increasingly becoming concerned for potential impacts of a possible major hurricane over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and Florida for the mid into latter part of next week. I’ll continue to keep you informed on this system’s progress.

NWS/Weather Prediction Center rainfall guidance is no rainfall over our area for the next seven day forecast period.

MY FORECAST CONFIDENCE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS…
A very high confidence forecast through the 7 day forecast period.
