AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS
WEATHER HAZARDS THROUGH 12 MIDNIGHT TONIGHT…

.. A Lightning Risk with Any Thunderstorm Today Through Tonight ..
.. A Hail Risk with Stronger Thunderstorms Later Today through Tonight ..

AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…

(1) A complex upper air low pressure storm system is crossing the area with clouds and rain chances continuing until the system passes late on Wednesday. A cold front, which passed through the IH35 corridor this morning, has ushered in cooler surface based air that will be overrun by gulf moisture as the upper air system passes. Upwards of 1 to 3 inches of rain is possible over our area between now and late Wednesday. In addition, stronger thunderstorms later today may produce some hail. Lightning will be a hazard with all thunderstorms.

(2) As a secondary “back door” (moving in from the north northeast) cold front moves through the area, skies will clear, from west to east, late Wednesday into Wednesday night with sunshine and warmer temperatures returning for the latter part of the week into our upcoming weekend.

(3) By late Saturday into Sunday, another upper air low pressure disturbance will approach and the old weakening cold front in the Gulf  of Mexico will turn back northward as a warm front. As our atmosphere turns more unstable, clouds will increase and rain chances will return by late Saturday through Sunday into Monday. Another cold front will be moving through Texas by Monday into Tuesday of next week.

.. No Hazards Expected Today Through Tonight ..

AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…

(1) A stable weather pattern continues pretty much through the weekend with a big warmup expected. A passing upper air low pressure disturbance and an associated weak reinforcing cold front will move southeastward through the area by late morning into midday Saturday but limited moisture availability will mean that the only sensible weather with the system will be a wind shift.

(2) Another low pressure storm system with associated several cold fronts.. one Monday and another late Wednesday into Thursday.. will approach the area for the early part of next week with clouds thickening and the return of rain chances with even a few stronger thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts expected, in general, during this period, have increased and based on NWS/Weather Prediction Center guidance, will be in the 1 to 3″ range.
