AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…

(1) A complex upper air low pressure storm system is crossing the area with clouds and rain chances continuing until the system passes late on Wednesday. A cold front, which passed through the IH35 corridor this morning, has ushered in cooler surface based air that will be overrun by gulf moisture as the upper air system passes. Upwards of 1 to 3 inches of rain is possible over our area between now and late Wednesday. In addition, stronger thunderstorms later today may produce some hail. Lightning will be a hazard with all thunderstorms.

(2) As a secondary “back door” (moving in from the north northeast) cold front moves through the area, skies will clear, from west to east, late Wednesday into Wednesday night with sunshine and warmer temperatures returning for the latter part of the week into our upcoming weekend.

(3) By late Saturday into Sunday, another upper air low pressure disturbance will approach and the old weakening cold front in the Gulf  of Mexico will turn back northward as a warm front. As our atmosphere turns more unstable, clouds will increase and rain chances will return by late Saturday through Sunday into Monday. Another cold front will be moving through Texas by Monday into Tuesday of next week.
