Austin / Travis County and South Central Texas Weather Update #4
Prepared by UT University/Incident Meteorologist Troy Kimmel
1155pm CT – Friday / 08 February 2019

… The Winter Weather Advisory, issued by the NWS/Austin-San Antonio for
Williamson.. Travis and Hays Counties until 7am Saturday, continues …
This includes the IH35 corridor counties including the greater Austin metro area.

The area of precipitation to our west and northwest has greatly decreased but some light freezing rain.. sleet.. snow pellets and rain is still falling in a 15 mile wide area from south of Fort Hood to just southeast of Burnet.
Other very light precipitation is in the vicinity of Round Mountain and Sandy in northern Blanco county.
Precipitation is moving northeastward about 20 miles per hour.

Given current precipitation trends, I am not expecting this precipitation to affect the Austin metro area or the H35 corridor south of Georgetown.

There is still a slim (20%) chance of additional precipitation into the morning hours Saturday morning.

This is my last statement, pending any changes, for this weather event.

Austin / Travis County and South Central Texas Weather Update #3
Prepared by UT University/Incident Meteorologist Troy Kimmel
935pm CT – Friday / 08 February 2019

… New Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the NWS/Austin-San Antonio for
Williamson.. Travis and Hays Counties until 7am Saturday … This includes the IH35 corridor counties including the greater Austin metro area.

A new area of sleet.. snow pellets and rain is approaching the area from the west. With temperatures at 9pm being at or below freezing north of a line from north of Cameron (Milam County) to Austin Executive Airport (near Pflugerville; northeastern Travis County) then to near Lago Vista Airport (northwestern Travis County).. we could see localized patches of additional sleet accumulations on elevated bridges and overpasses especially in Williamson County and northwestern/northern Travis County as this precipitation tracks east northeastward.

A few hours ago, the media reported a 10 car collision in northwestern Williamson County (along SH195) with two critical injuries reported by the Williamson County Sheriffs Office. There were initial reports of an icy bridge at least being a contributing factor.
