AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES
AND MY 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE …

(1) The upper level high, what I refer to as the “lid” on the atmosphere, has, as predicted, shifted more north and westward and has resulted in a more north northwesterly wind aloft. In response, a weak cold front has moved southward into central Texas. The front will come a little further south today before pulling stationary across the area. As a result, we’ll see a little better chance of a few rain showers and thunderstorms developing in the more unstable air mass. Frequent lightning along with strong, variable and gusty surface winds can be expected with any storms today into tonight.  With additional clouds, afternoon high temperatures will come down a few degrees although still remaining above seasonal averages.

(2) As the weak stationary front weakens and washes out, upper level high pressure redevelops over the area by tomorrow and continuing mid and late week. Accordingly, clouds and rain chances decrease or drop from the forecast and temperatures rebound a few degrees.

(3) Although weather will remain quiet, beginning next weekend, we need to watch the tropics closely as a tropical system, moving west northwestward from the Caribbean, may be entering the Gulf of Mexico.

MY FORECAST CONFIDENCE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS…
Through Tomorrow..
Low to medium precipitation confidence otherwise very high forecast confidence
Tomorrow Night Through Sunday..
