AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…

(1) After a blown forecast yesterday, with little in the way of precipitation, another strong upper air low pressure storm system, currently to our west over northwestern Mexico, will approach us and move into central Texas through the end of the week. An associated surface cold front will also move southeastward into central and north Texas. As this dynamic atmospheric lift develops in an increasingly moist and unstable air mass, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms locally today will become numerous and produce heavier rain along with a threat of severe weather beginning tonight  with rain and thunderstorm chances continuing to peak overnight tonight into Friday and  Friday night into Saturday morning. NWS guidance continues to suggest upwards of 2 to 4 inches of rain with isolated higher totals between now and midday Saturday. There is a risk of severe weather (larger hail and stronger thunderstorm wind gusts) tonight into early tomorrow as upper air low pressure storm system moves overhead.

(2) In the wake of the cold front early Saturday, precipitation chances will decrease later in the day Saturday with a little drier pattern for Saturday night into Sunday.

(3) After a break in weather for Sunday, rain chances are back in our forecast by Monday and into next week as the air mass overhead, once again, grows more unstable.
