TK’s Weather Discussion (Wed/21Mar2012)

Updated  930am CDT Wednesday / 21 March 2012

…. Drier and More Stable Weather Pattern with Sunshine Next Few Days ….
…. Warmer Daytime Temperatures Mid and Late Week through the Weekend ….
…. No Frontal Passages/Air Mass Changes Forecast Through the Weekend ….

On this Wednesday morning… an eastward moving surface cold fronts extends southward across Arkansas and Louisiana with high pressure over the western USA building eastward in the wake of the front. As a result, a light southwesterly surface wind is blowing across our area of Texas.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere, a deep counterclockwise rotating closed upper level low is near Wichita Falls. As a result, upper level winds are strong southwesterly across our area of Texas.

With the upper level low pressure disturbance now slowly departing to the northeast, clouds have broken and skies will be mostly clear with a more stable and drier air mass in place tomorrow into Thursday with return southerly wind and warmer temperatures late week through next weekend. A few more clouds will return late week into the weekend, but, for the most part, a partly cloudy sky will permit lots of sunshine through the weekend into early next week.

My forecast confidence through the seven day forecast period is very high.

For Austin and south central Texas… tonight will see a clear sky. Lows in the 40s to near 50. Southerly wind will prevail. For  tomorrow, sunshine. Highs in the 70s. South southwesterly surface winds will prevail.

Have a good Wednesday night and Thursday…
