TK’s Weather Discussion….

Updated 915am CT – Monday / 04 May 2015

.. Another Upper Level Low Pressure Storm System Headed Our Way ..
.. Rain and Thunderstorm Chances Show Up By Tomorrow ..

On this Monday…. a surface high pressure area is over the western Atlantic Ocean. A cold front extends westward across southern Kansas and southern Colorado with a trough.. or line.. of surface low pressure extending southward into west Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our local surface winds are southeasterly.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere.. an upper level low pressure system is over the southern California coast. As a result, our upper air winds at about 18,500 feet are westerly at 10 to 15 mph.

As we start a new week, a more moist air mass has returned to the area.

The upper air low pressure storm system.. currently out to west.. will approach us from the west with increased cloud cover and rain showers and thunderstorm chances by tomorrow and continuing through the balance of the seven day forecast period. With the chance of thunderstorms comes the risk of dangerous cloud to ground lightning. The latest guidance.. from the National Weather Service.. suggests than 1 to 2 inches of rain could fall across our area beginning tomorrow through early next Monday. At this point, no severe weather is expected with this weather system.

Have a good Monday….
