TK’s Weather Discussion….

Updated 800am CT – Wednesday / 13 August 2014

…. Drier and More Stable Summer Weather Pattern Returns Through Weekend ….

On this Wednesday morning…. a weakening stationary front extends westward from the western Florida panhandle across southeastern Louisiana and the extreme northwestern Gulf of Mexico back inland along the mid Texas coast north of Corpus Christi to the southwest of San Antonio. Surface high pressure is to the east of the front over the southwestern north Atlantic Ocean while the high pressure.. behind the front.. is located over southeastern Nebraska. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our local surface winds are light northerly.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere… an area of upper level high pressure is located from Texas northward through the eastern Rockies and western plains states into eastern Montana and he eastern Dakotas. A trough.. or line.. of upper air low pressure extends southward from the eastern parts of Hudson Bay into the southeastern USA and into Florida with another one along the west coast of the USA from the west coasts of Washington and Oregon and northern California. As a result of this pattern, the upper level winds over south central Texas and the Austin metro area, about 18,000 feet above the ground, are northeasterly at 10 to 20 mph.

The stationary front.. to our south… is expected to continue washing out today.. tonight into tomorrow. A drier and more stable weather pattern is already taking hold as upper level high pressure strengthens again over the area. This summer weather pattern will persist through the weekend and into next week with temperatures rebounding once again.

Regarding my forecast, my local forecast confidence: My forecast confidence is very high through the balance of the seven day forecast period.

Have a good Wednesday….
