ALL / Austin, Travis County and South Central Texas Tropical Weather Update #7 – FINAL UPDATE
Prepared by UT University/Incident Response Meteorologist Troy Kimmel

… Final Tropical Cyclone Laura Update …
… No Changes for the IH35 Corridor …
My Observations/Thoughts…
As expected, damage is catastrophic in southwestern and western Louisiana /including metro Lake Charles/ as well as lesser amounts in southeast and far east Texas.
Here in the Austin / IH35 corridor, we, as I expected, stay on the drier west side of this system with no direct effects for the IH35 corridor. No precipitation is seen through the weekend as above average afternoon highs continue.
A couple of quick pictures.. the NWS/Lake Charles WSR88D Doppler Radar antenna/radome at
Lake Charles Regional Airport was sheared and ripped from the top of the radar pedestal by
recorded/verified 130+ mph wind gusts .
Our thoughts go out to our neighbors to the east.. it is going to be a VERY long and VERY tough ride as far as damage clean up, power restoration and communication restoration is concerned.
This is my last statement on Laura..
