…. Preliminary Update …..
The NWS/Austin-San Antonio has issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for the
Austin metro area as well as Travis County and the IH35 corridor counties (Williamson
and Hays) and counties to the west over the Texas Hill Country beginning at 300am Monday morning and ending at 600pm Monday.
This event is likely to linger in Monday night into Tuesday as well… so please anticipate that the NWS may have to extend some type of winter weather messages locally into Monday night and into Tuesday as well.
At this point, my confidence of this winter weather event affecting our local area is MODERATE with potential HIGH TO VERY HIGH impacts. At this point.. a very cold rain.. freezing drizzle and freezing rain (i.e. icing) look to be the main threats mainly on elevated bridges/overpasses/structures.
I will issue a more detailed weather email later today.
All agencies and authorities should make plans for the possibility of a multi day winter weather event across parts of our Austin and south central Texas area.
