AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…

(1) A strong upper air low pressure storm system, currently over the southern Rockies, will move across the southern plains states through the end of the week. As it moves overhead, in an increasingly moist and unstable air mass, dynamic atmospheric lift has developed. As a result, scattered to numerous rain showers and thunderstorms will continue today into tonight  with rain and thunderstorm chances continuing through a secondary peak of rainfall Friday into Friday night. NWS guidance continues to suggest upwards of 2 to 4 inches of rain with isolated higher totals over the next seven days. There is some risk of severe weather (larger hail and stronger thunderstorm wind gusts) tonight as an initial upper air low pressure storm system moves overhead.

(2) In the wake of a cold front early Saturday, precipitation chances will decrease for Saturday night into Sunday.

(3) After a break in weather for Sunday, rain chances are back in our forecast by Monday and into next week as the air mass overhead, once again, grows more unstable.
