AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES
AND MY 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE …
(1) Gulf of Mexico moisture flow has increased as tropical cyclone, currently a tropical storm, approaches the middle Texas coast. The current forecast track, after landfall later tonight into early tomorrow, will stay east of Austin. As a result (and assuming the current forecast track verifies), we’ll stay on the drier west side of the system although I will continue the chance of rain showers and thunderstorms being on the west side of the system through the middle part of the new week. With increased clouds and precipitation chances, afternoon high temperatures will be below seasonal averages.
(2) Although a drier and more stable weather pattern will unfold late week through next weekend, residual gulf moisture and instability will result in widely scattered to scattered rain showers and thunderstorms under a partly cloudy sky with afternoon high temperatures warming back to near to slightly above seasonal temperatures.
NWS/Weather Prediction Center rainfall guidance, over the next seven days, is predicting rainfall amounts of 0.50 to 0.75 inch.
MY FORECAST CONFIDENCE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS…
Medium to high confidence through Sunday
