SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…
(1) A series of upper level low pressure disturbances will move across the area beginning later tonight through the weekend as a surface cold front approaches the area from the north today.. then another cold front approaches tomorrow with another late Sunday. Guidance suggests that these fronts will not move through the area but instead leave us in a rather moist unsettled weather pattern with on again/off again rain chances through the weekend and into next week.
(2) Another cold front will approach the area – with assumedly better rain and thunderstorm chances – from the west by next Friday but my forecast confidence regarding that system is quite low at this point.
(3) With rain chances on and off through the next seven days, NWS/Weather Prediction Center rainfall forecast guidance has increased the overall rainfall amounts expected locally over the next seven days to generally between .50″ to 1.00″. A cautionary note for travelers, however, rainfall forecasts have trended much heavier to our distant north for north Texas and southern Oklahoma where more than 6 inches of rainfall is possible based on this morning’s guidance.
