AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…

(1) A strong upper air low pressure storm system, currently along the four corners region, will move slowly across the southern plains states through the end of the week. As it moves overhead, in an increasingly moist and unstable air mass, dynamic atmospheric lift will develop. As a result, scattered to numerous rain showers and thunderstorms will develop by later today into tonight  with rain and thunderstorm chances continuing through the balance of the week. NWS guidance suggests upwards of 2 to 4 inches of rain with some risk of severe weather (larger hail and stronger thunderstorm wind gusts) as the upper air low pressure storm system and surface cold front passes.

(2) In the wake of a cold front Saturday into Saturday night, precipitation chances will decrease but will linger into Saturday.

(3) After a break in weather for Sunday, rain chances are back in our forecast by Monday and into next week as the air mass overhead, once again, grows more unstable.
