… A Mostly Dry and Stable Weather Pattern Continues …
… A Cold Front Tonight with a Cooling Trend for the Remainder of the Week …

On this Tuesday… a strong surface low pressure system is over southeastern Colorado with a cold front extending southwestward into northeastern New Mexico into southwestern New Mexico and northwestern Mexico. A warm front extends southeastward from the low into southwestern Kansas into northern Oklahoma. Surface high pressure, to the east of our area, is centered over central Mississippi. As a result, our surface winds across south central Texas are southerly.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere.. an upper level low pressure area is over Pennsylvania and the US northeastern coastal areas. Another trough, or line, of upper level low pressure extends southwestward from Hudson Bay through the northern Rockies into the southwestern USA. Our upper level winds, at about 18,500 feet overhead, are west southwesterly 45 to 55 mph.

A mostly dry and stable weather pattern continues across our area with the surface high, that moved down into the area Sunday into Monday behind the late Saturday cold front, now east of the area.

With abundant sunshine and a south southwesterly surface wind flow, our temperatures will be much warmer that average today with a record high temperature threatened at Austin Bergstrom International Airport (82 in 1950 is today’s record) as well as at Austin City / Camp Mabry (81 in 2013 is today’s record).

Our next cold front to pass through the area tonight as the low pressure area out west moves through the area. Limited low level moisture return and a fairly stable air mass will preclude any rain chances as the front passes.

Cooler temperatures will prevail Wednesday through the upcoming weekend. Another very weak reinforcing cold front will pass the area late Friday into Saturday with only a few clouds present.

I do not expect any precipitation over the next seven days with temperatures, after the cold front tomorrow night, falling back closer to seasonal levels.

Have a good Tuesday….
