TK’s Weather Discussion….

Updated 915am CT – Thursday / 22 January 2015

…. Clouds and Rain Continue ….
…. Sunshine Returns By Late Friday into Next Weekend ….

On this Thursday morning…. a stationary front is situated from the northwestern Gulf of Mexico northwestward into a surface low in the Texas coastal plains around Corpus Christi then southwestward as a cold front into northeastern Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our local surface winds are gusty northerly.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere.. a strong southeastward moving upper air low pressure disturbance is over western New Mexico. As a result, our upper air winds at about 18,500 feet are southwesterly at 45 to 55 mph.

As the emerging upper air low pressure disturbance.. out west.. moves eastward into the state, an overrunning pattern continues locally with clouds and rain forecast to continue through tonight and through the early part of the day on Friday. So far.. upwards of 2 inches of rain has already fallen across the area with another 1/2 to inch of rainfall possible between now and late Friday.

With the upper air disturbance moving east of the area by tomorrow night, we’ll see a fairly rapid clearing of the sky late Friday night with plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures due for the coming weekend.

Regarding my forecast, my local forecast confidence: My forecast confidence is high through tomorrow.. with my forecast confidence rising back to very high for the coming weekend.

Have a good Thursday….
