…. Clouds and Rain Chances Return ….
…. Sunshine Returns By Late Friday into Next Weekend ….

On this Wednesday morning…. a cold front is situated from southern Mississippi and southeastern Louisiana to along the Texas coast to around Corpus Christi to near Laredo then into northeastern Mexico. Surface high pressure.. behind the front.. is centered over the Idaho southeastward to Oklahoma and Arkansas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our local surface winds are north northeasterly.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere.. a strengthening trough.. or line.. of upper level low pressure is over the southwestern USA. As a result, our upper air winds at about 18,500 feet are west southwesterly at 50 to 60 mph.

The cold front.. that passed the area last evening.. has moved southeastward to along the Texas coast. Colder surface based temperatures have moved into the area in the front in the wake of the front.

At the same time, as the emerging upper air low pressure disturbance out west moves eastward into the state, an overrunning pattern has developed with clouds and the increasing likelihood of rain for the area beginning later today into tonight with that rainy pattern continuing through tomorrow and through most of the day on Friday. The latest guidance suggests that Thursday through Thursday night will be the wettest time with rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches area wide between now through Friday night.

With the upper air disturbance moving east of the area by Friday night, we’ll see a fairly rapid clearing of the sky late Friday night with plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures due for the coming weekend.

Regarding my forecast, my local forecast confidence: My forecast confidence is high through Friday.. with my forecast confidence rising back to very high for the coming weekend.

Have a good Wednesday….
