Forecasting Austin and South Central Texas Weather Since 1984

TK’s Weather Discussion….

Updated 845am CT – Thursday / 15 May 2014

…. Sunshine ….
…. A Warming Trend Getting Underway Late Week into the Weekend ….

On this Thursday morning…. surface high pressure is overhead of south Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our local surface winds are light.

In the upper levels of the atmosphere… a deep counterclockwise rotating trough, or line, of upper air low pressure extends from Minnesota southward into the lower Mississippi Valley. The upper level winds over south central Texas and the Austin metro area about 18,000 feet above the ground, are northwesterly 40 to 50 mph.

A drier and more stable weather pattern is prevailing with the surface high pressure.. currently overhead.. moving east of the area today allowing for a return south southwesterly surface wind into the weekend with a few clouds returning by Saturday and Sunday into early next week.

With the return to south southwesterly surface winds, a warming trend will get underway today through the weekend and into next week.

The dry weather pattern will continue into the middle part of next week.

Regarding my forecast, my local forecast confidence: My forecast confidence is very high over the next seven day period.

Have a good Thursday…
