.. Weather Update #8 ..

NWS watches/advisories/warnings (as of 945pm today) by issuing NWS office:

NWS/Austin-San Antonio:
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY continues for the greater Austin area and the IH35 Corridor
as well as for all of the Texas Hill Country to the west, including Burnet, Blanco, Gillespie and Llano
Counties until 9 am Tuesday morning (little accumulation along IH35 corridor counties to
1/4″ inch or less accumulations for the Hill Country).

NWS/San Angelo:
WINTER STORM WARNING continues for Mason County until 6am Monday (up to 1 inch
ice/sleet/snow accumulations).

NWS/Fort Worth:
The WINTER STORM WARNING for all of the DFW Metroplex and the IH35 corridor southward
to Waco, Temple, Killeen, Fort Hood and Belton has been downgraded to a WINTER WEATHER
ADVISORY
but still continues until 12 noon Monday (ice accumulations to 1/10th inch and little or
no sleet / snow accumulations).

…. Precipitation Spreading Northeastward toward the Austin/IH35 Corridor Area ….
…. Possibility of a few lightning strikes between 1030pm and 12 midnight ….

At 945pm… an area of precipitation.. with isolated embedded thunderstorms.. is indicated on
Doppler weather radar from south of Fredericksburg across Kerrville to near Hondo. Lightning
has occurred west of Kerrville and near Bandera with this band of precipitation. The area
is moving northeastward and should move into the Austin area between 1030pm and 12 midnight.
A few lightning strikes are possible with periods of rain / sleet / freezing rain as well.
Temperatures at 945pm.. on the LCRA Hydromet system.. are showing freezing or slightly below
freezing temperatures across some parts of northwestern Hays.. western Travis and western Williamson
Counties. Some icy patches could develop on exposed bridges and overpasses in colder locations
as this precipitation passes.
