Austin / Travis County and South Central Texas Weather Update #8

530am CDT – Sunday / 10 February 2013
… Cold Front Moving Southeastward Through Austin and IH35 Corridor …
At 510am, the NWS COOP reporting station in Austin Great Hills (AGHT2) – in northwest
Austin – reported a cold frontal passage (FROPA) with a wind shift and estimated winds
of 31010G18KT. Light to moderate rainfall is being reported with 0.14″ rainfall reported
so far in the 5am hour (up until 528am). The air temperature fell from 66F at 510am to the current temperature (at 528am) of 57F.
The front will continue across the IH35 corridor and the Austin metro area as well as the
Austin Bergstrom International Airport aerodrome over the next hour with the threat of severe weather diminishing following the frontal passage at any given location. Please remember that a TORNADO WATCH remains in effect for areas along and ahead of the front until 9am this morning.
