… A Dry and Stable Summertime Weather Pattern Continues …
On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a low pressure area is over western Kansas with a warm front extending southeastward into central Oklahoma and north central and east Texas then into the north central Gulf of Mexico as a stationary front then northeastward across northern Florida as a cold front. North of the front, surface high pressure is located over northern Kentucky. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are southerly.
On the upper air map… an area of eastward moving upper level low pressure area is located over eastern Montana. General upper air high pressure, acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere, continues over the southern USA with the main upper level high pressure center now over Texas. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are east southeasterly about 15 to 20 mph.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
Upper level high pressure will restrengthen overhead for the remainder of the week into the weekend with a dry and stable late summer weather pattern continuing. The upper level high pressure will shift more east of the area by late in the weekend into next week.
Afternoon high temperatures will continue to be well above seasonal averages but falling back a little closer to seasonal averages (but still above average).
No rainfall is expected over the next seven days.
Have a good Thursday..
