… A More Stable Weather Pattern Through Friday …
… Clouds and Rain Chances Reappear for Friday Night and the Weekend …
… Stronger Cold Front on Sunday …
On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a cold front extends southward from a surface low over the northern Great Lakes into the Tennessee Valley and the western part of the Florida panhandle and the northwestern Gulf of Mexico then into northeastern Mexico south of Brownsville then west northwestward into far west Texas east of El Paso. High pressure, behind the front, is centered over northern Nebraska. The remnants of tropical cyclone Michael are moving northeastward and are located over the Georgia/South Carolina border. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are northerly.
On the upper air map… a eastward moving deep broad trough, or line, of upper level low pressure is located from central Canada southwestward into the western two thirds of the USA. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are westerly 60 to 70 mph.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
As the deep upper air low over the western two thirds of the USA moves eastward today, drier and more stable air continues to overspread our area from the north and northwest. This will result in slightly cooler temperatures that will continue to dominate through late week.
Another stronger cold front will move into the area by late Saturday into Sunday along with the mid and upper level remnants of Pacific tropical cyclone Sergio with rain chances and temperatures cooling further for late Friday into weekend into next week.
Guidance from the NWS/Weather Prediction Center suggests that we’ll see 1 to 2 inches of rain, on average, across our area for the period late tomorrow through the middle part of next week.
Have a good Thursday..
