SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES
AND MY 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE …
(1) Upper level high pressure, anchored east-to-west to our north stretching westward from the southeastern USA into the southwestern USA, is acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere. The upper level high pressure has weakened very slightly over the southern plains; however, little change is expected as a stable summer weather pattern continues. Abundant sunshine will continue through the remainder of the week and through the weekend with afternoon high temperatures staying at 100 degrees or slightly above – well above seasonal averages – with elevated heat indices. Isolated afternoon rain showers and thunderstorms are possible in areas southeast of the Austin area but should not be much of a factor on the IH35 corridor itself.
(2) As expected, a weak surface cold front has moved southward into the Red River country of southern Oklahoma and north and northwest Texas. The front will weaken and wash out by later tonight and into tomorrow and return back northeastward with no effect locally.
NWS/Weather Prediction Center rainfall guidance is predicting no rainfall over our area over the next seven day forecast period.
