AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…
(1) After more clouds and a few areas of rain, a restabilization of the atmosphere is taking place. Afternoon high temperatures will rebound a few degrees for the next few days. Precipitation chances are dropped from the forecast.
(3) The upper level high, acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere, will shift more west and northwest of our area allowing for a little destablization of the atmosphere beginning Wednesday. A cold front will move southward into Texas from the north and settle into central Texas, most likely staying north of our area, as it becomes stationary. At it closest approach to our local area on Thursday, I will include a slim chance of rain showers and thunderstorms.
(3) In what is a lower confidence forecast, it looks like a dry and more stable weather situation for Friday through most of the Labor Day weekend. It should be noted, however, that model guidance is still not in total agreement with some models trying to bring yet another cold front into Texas Sunday through Labor Day. Guidance also suggests a slug of very moist and unstable air moving west northwestward off the Gulf of Mexico in that same time period. At this point, I will keep a dry weather pattern for the local area through Sunday but, as usual, we need to keep an eye on weather features distant north and distant east southeast of the local area since these features, if they hold together, could result in rain and thunderstorm chances by late in the weekend into early next week.
