AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…

(1) As we start the week, a pronounced south southeasterly surface wind flow, off the Gulf of Mexico, is resulting in abundant low level moisture return into the eastern two thirds of the state.

(2) Another strong upper air low pressure storm system, currently along the southern California coast, will move slowly across our area Wednesday into Friday. As it approaches, in an increasingly moist and unstable air mass, dynamic atmospheric lift will develop. As a result, scattered to numerous rain showers and thunderstorms will develop by later tonight with increasing rain chances for the balance of the week. NWS guidance suggests upwards of 2 to 3 inches of rain with some risk of severe weather (larger hail and stronger thunderstorm wind gusts) as the upper air low pressure storm system and surface cold front passes.

(3) In the wake of a cold front late Thursday night into Friday, precipitation chances will decrease but will linger into Friday and Saturday.
