… A Drier and More Stable Weather Pattern for the Week …
On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a weak stationary front extends southward from a surface low west over western Oklahoma into southwest Texas west of Del Rio. Another surface low is over central Kansas with a warm front extending east southeastward into south Missouri into northeastern Arkansas and into northeastern Mississippi as a cold front then into central Alabama and central Georgia. High pressure is located over the central Gulf of Mexico as well as over north central and northwestern New Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are south southeasterly.
On the upper air map… an upper level low pressure area extends southwestward from western Kansas into New Mexico with another over the northeastern USA. Upper level high pressure is over the southeastern USA with another over the southwestern USA. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are light westerly.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
As the upper level low to our northwest drifts to the north, a drier and more stable weather develops as we start the new week.
With the increased sunshine/less in the way of clouds, afternoon high temperatures will rebound to slightly above seasonal averages this week.
