AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS
WEATHER HAZARDS THROUGH 12 MIDNIGHT TONIGHT…

…. Elevated Heat Indices with Above Average Temps Continuing Over the Area ….
…. High Wildfire Danger Continues over our Area ….

AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES
AND MY 7 DAY FORECAST CONFIDENCE …

(1) Upper level high pressure, anchored east-to-west to our north stretching westward from the southeastern USA into the southwestern USA, continues to act like a “lid” on the atmosphere. Abundant sunshine will continue through much of the remainder of the week with afternoon high temperatures staying at 100 degrees or above – well above seasonal averages – with elevated heat indices.

(2) There are some initial indications that the upper level high will relax its hold over our area by Friday through our upcoming weekend. Temperatures will come down a few degrees but still stay above seasonal averages. Although the air mass will become slightly more unstable with some rain showers and thunderstorms to our distant east through southeast and south, I am holding off on any rain chances locally until I am more confident of this possibility.

(3) Given the on going drought conditions and the wildfires we saw in the area yesterday, a reminder that wildfire danger is high.

NWS/Weather Prediction Center rainfall guidance is predicting no rainfall over our area over the next seven day forecast period.

MY FORECAST CONFIDENCE OVER THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS…
A high to very high confidence forecast through the 7 day forecast period.
