… More Clouds and Better Rain Chances On The Way …
On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a weakening cold front extends southwestward from the Missouri bootheel into Arkansas and south central Oklahoma into west Texas and central New Mexico then stretching northward into Colorado. Surface high pressure is situated from the Carolinas eastward over the western Atlantic Ocean. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are south southeasterly.
On the upper air map… a eastward moving trough, or line, of upper level low pressure is located from western Canada southwestward into California. An upper level high is over northern Mexico.. Texas and eastward over the southeastern USA. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are light.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
As the upper air low over the western USA moves eastward, rain chances will show up again in our forecast beginning later today and continuing through the weekend well into next week. NWS/Weather Prediction Center guidance has increased upwards of 1 to 2 inches, on average, over the next seven days with isolated heavier amounts.
I do not see any cold frontal passages over the next seven day period; however, longer range guidance suggests a cold front into Texas by the latter part of next week into the following weekend.
Forecasters at the NWS/National Hurricane Center are watching a northwestward moving disturbance over the northwestern Caribbean Sea and the eastern Yucatan Peninsula. It’s too early to know what the system will go and what may become if it, but forecasters do indicate the increased possibility of tropical development over the next few days. I’ll continue to keep an eye on the system.
Have a good Friday..
