A Dry Stable Weather Pattern Continues….
On this Wednesday… a surface low pressure area is over west central Texas with a cold front extending westward into far west Texas. Given this surface pressure pattern, surface winds are moderate northwesterly across our area.
In the upper levels of the atmosphere, a broad area of upper level low pressure is over the southern Great Lakes. As a result of this upper air wind flow, our upper level winds are strong westerly with winds over Austin at about 18,500 feet being westerly around 60 to 70 mph.
Drier air continues to surge into our area on the heels of surface west and northwesterly surface winds. The cold front over Texas.. as it moves eastward.. will act to reinforce the air mass already in place.
This current pattern will prevail through much of the next seven day period. I expect another cold front through Texas by early next week but with no or very limited moisture ahead of it, very little in way of sensible weather is expected over than the associated frontal wind shift.
Unfortunately, given our ongoing drought, I don’t see any rain chances over the next seven days.
