TK’s Special Briefing….

700am CT – Friday / 24 January 2014

…. Winter Weather Update #5 ….

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY continues in effect until 12 noon today for
metro Austin.. the IH35 corridor.. and all of south central Texas.

Temperatures are well below freezing area wide this morning.

Although the clouds persist, little or no additional precipitation is expected.. so the NWS
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY continues to account for the hazardous/dangerous icy
conditions across the area. If you don’t have to be out this morning, local authorities urge
you to stay off the roads until temperatures rise above freezing around midday today.

TK’s Special Briefing….

456pm CT – Thursday / 24 January 2014

A Quick Update…

The winter weather situation is pretty much unfolding as anticipated with sleet reported in Williamson
and even extreme northwestern Travis County already. Sleet has been reported in Blanco and
Burnet Counties as well.

A winter weather advisory is already in effect for Williamson.. Burnet and Blanco Counties..
and will go into effect shortly at 6pm for all remaining areas of south central Texas including
metro Austin. Ice.. sleet and snow accumulations tonight through the early morning hours tomorrow
will amount to less than 1″ as I see it now.. which will create widespread hazardous driving
conditions across the area.

An important resource as we go through the night is the LCRA Hydromet Website…
select “surface temperatures” in in data box pulldown.. as well as “City of Austin” in geographic
pulldown box and you get a very good and accurate look at current temperatures.
