AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…

.. A Quiet and Stable Weather Pattern through the Next Seven Days ..
.. A Weak Late Season Cold Front Due Late Tomorrow..

(1) Upper level high pressure, acting like a “lid” of the atmosphere, will result in a drier and more stable late spring/early summer weather pattern through the next two days. Temperatures will be warming up with afternoon highs near 100 today and into the 100 to 105 degree range tomorrow.

(2) A cold front will move southeastward across the IH35 corridor in the late afternoon into early evening hours tomorrow. I think that the very stable air mass in place of the front will keep us from seeing much sensible change in the weather (other than the wind shift) as the front passes. Some of the high resolution model guidance suggests one of two thunderstorms could develop as the system passes southeast of our local area into the coastal plains of Texas; in addition, the NWS/Storm Prediction Center has posted a “marginal” risk (level 1 out of 5) of severe thunderstorms for areas mainly southeast of the IH35 corridor for late afternoon into early evening tomorrow. Given my low forecast confidence, I’m not going to include any rain chances locally, at this point, but I’ll continue to watch this closely.

(3) A mostly clear, dry and stable weather pattern will continue, with temperatures down a few degrees but still a bit above seasonal averages, for the latter half of the week through next weekend.

AUSTIN / UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS WEATHER
SEVEN DAY WEATHER HEADLINES…

.. A Quiet and Stable Weather Pattern ..
.. Tropical Cyclone Threat for Louisiana Over the Weekend ..

(1) Upper level high pressure, acting like a “lid” of the atmosphere, will result in a drier and more stable late spring/early summer weather pattern through the balance of the week and into the weekend. Temperatures will be warming up with afternoon highs approaching 100 by late in the weekend and even warmer by early next week.

(2) I continue to monitor the latest NWS/National Hurricane Center guidance regarding the tropical cyclone, tropical depression Cristobal, over the Yucatan Peninsula. The latest guidance suggests the system will continue to move slowly through the Yucatan Peninsula before turning northward by tonight into tomorrow making its way into the central Gulf of Mexico by the weekend. It looks like the center of the tropical system will make landfall on the south central Louisiana coast in the predawn hours Monday as a tropical storm. With the system well to our east, we’ll remain on the dry side of the system with no effects expected. As usual, there’s still uncertainty with this system so stay up to date with the latest information and remember to disregard “click bait” social media entries of what one atmospheric computer model / model guidance spaghetti plot says. You should really only trust information from the NWS/National Hurricane Center and local NWS offices.
