… Slim Thunderstorm Chances Again Later Today into Tonight …
… Late Week into the Weekend, A Stable Summer Like Weather Pattern Prevails …
… No Cold Frontal Passages Expected Over the Next Seven Days …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… high pressure is centered to our east over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. Another high pressure area is located over Colorado and Wyoming. A stationary front snakes southwestward from western Kentucky into central Arkansas and Oklahoma into the Texas south plains around Lubbock into central New Mexico.
A trough, or line, of surface low pressure extends south southwestward from a surface low, along the front over eastern New Mexico, into far southwest Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are light and variable.

On the upper air map… an upper level low is east of Hudson Bay with another one from Nevada to offshore the northern coast of California. Weak disturbances are embedded, within the upper air flow, over the central USA plains states. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are west northwesterly at 55 to 65 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Yesterday’s unexpected evening and nighttime activity came as a result of an upper level disturbance that is still situated over the central plains southward into Texas. With that disturbance still hanging around today, I will include isolated thunderstorms in the late afternoon into nighttime hours today with the threat of strong straight line thunderstorm winds and some hail.

Beyond today, I don’t see much of a chance of rain over the next seven day period as the result of a more stable summer like weather pattern in place.

With the sunshine, afternoon high temperatures will warm just a bit over the next day or so with temperatures falling back a few degrees over the weekend into early next week although the afternoon high temperatures will remain above seasonal averages.

Have a good Wednesday..
