TK’s Special Briefing…. (235pm CT-Sun/19Apr2015)

Austin / Travis County and South Central Texas Weather Update #1
Prepared by UT University/Incident Meteorologist Troy Kimmel
225pm CT – Sunday / 19 April 2015

…. Dry Line Moving Across the Area ….
…. Isolated Thunderstorms Developing ….
…. Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Areas East of IH35
Corridor ….

At 225pm… a thunderstorm has developed northwest of Lexington with
another recently west of Kyle in Hays County. Lightning is being indicated
with both thunderstorms.

Based on surface analysis and NWS Doppler weather radar.. the eastward
moving dry line extends from eastern Williamson County to near Austin
Bergstrom International Airport to near Wimberley in Hays County.

As the dry line feature moves eastward and an approaching cold front.. moving
in from the northwest as well.. catches up with it, additional thunderstorm
development is likely east of the IH35 corridor.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued.. valid until 8pm.. for Fayette, Bastrop
and Lee counties. The watch for the counties in our immediate area will likely be
removed from the watch later this afternoon. No thunderstorms are expected in
the Austin metro area or Travis and Williamson counties and the thunderstorms
over Hays county should move out of the IH35 corridor before 345pm.

This will be my only statement on this weather event.
