…. Threat of Thunderstorms Ending ….

At 1120pm… there are a few small non-severe thunderstorms across the area..
one near Pflugerville in northeast Travis County.. with another just northwest
of San Marcos. Other isolated moderate rain showers and thunderstorms are
outside the IH35 corridor counties near Burnet and also in Caldwell and Bastrop
counties.

The threat of severe weather has ended. All NWS advisories/watches and
warnings have expired. Other than the NWS final storm report mentioned below,
this will be my last statement on this weather event.

Tomorrow, I will forward to you, via email, the final NWS Austin-San Antonio
Local Storm Report (LSR) on this event.

…. Looking Ahead to the New Week ….

Tomorrow and Monday look like beautiful days with abundant sunshine. As this
upper level low pressure storm system moves away from the area tomorrow, a
pronounced dry, continental southwesterly surface wind flow will develop with the
possibility of highs getting near 90 in the afternoon. A rather strong dry surface
cold front will move through the area late tomorrow into tomorrow night with highs
on Monday, with sunshine, about 20 degrees cooler than tomorrow… we’ll only
be in the lower 70s for highs. Lows tomorrow night and Monday night will be in the
50s.

By Wednesday through the remainder of the week, we find ourselves back in a
more moist and unstable situation with another upper level Pacific low pressure
storm system approaching. Thunderstorm chances will be increasing again.
According to the latest NWS/Storm Prediction Center outlooks, there could be
the possibility of severe weather again over Texas and the southern plains as
early as Wednesday.. but more likely with a potentially higher risk Thursday into
Friday (and maybe even the weekend). As we plan the new week ahead, let’s
continue to be weather aware for the possibility of severe weather by mid and late
week and potentially into next weekend.
