Austin / Travis County and South Central Texas Weather Update #3 – FINAL STATEMENT

1240am CST – Sunday / 10 March 2013

…. Thunderstorms Moving Across IH35 Corridor ….

At 1235am CST.. Doppler weather radar shows a broad line of rain showers and thunderstorms
crossing the IH35 corridor.. from north central Texas through Temple.. then southwestward
through the Georgetown.. Round Rock .. and Austin metro areas to near Blanco and further
southwestward to west of San Antonio. The line is moving eastward while the individual
thunderstorms in the line are moving northeastward.

At this point.. no severe weather is indicated in our area with beneficial rains accompanying
occasional to frequent  dangerous lightning  and some gusty winds.  Severe weather.. as  I had
expected.. has generally been west.. northwest and north of the local area. Currently, there is a
very strong thunderstorm moving eastward just northwest of San Antonio and residents of Hays..
Bastrop.. Caldwell and Fayette Counties need to monitor this storm over the next few hours for
severe weather potential.

Over the next few hours.. the precipitation will continue to move eastward with cooler and
more stable air moving into the area with any threat of severe weather diminishing.

Remember that a Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 2am CST/3am CDT
(the actual time change hour) for all of the area.. however, the threat is already diminishing
pretty rapidly in areas along and west of the IH35 corridor from the Austin area northward.
