… A Little Cooler Temperatures In the Wake of Yesterday’s Cold Front …
… Warmer with Lower Rain Chances Lingering Late Week Through the Weekend …
On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… A cold front extends southwestward from a surface low around Natchez, MS into southwestern Louisiana then into the northwestern Gulf of Mexico then back ashore in Texas just north of Brownsville TX then westward into northeastern Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are northerly.
On the upper air map… a deep trough, or line, of upper level low pressure is moving slowly eastward from western parts of Hudson Bay in Canada southward into the eastern plains and east Texas. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are westerly 50 to 60 mph.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
As the upper level low pressure trough, over the eastern plains states, continues to move eastward toward the Mississippi Valley, it has allowed for the surface cold front to progress south southeastward through Texas. The front will weaken over the next 24 hours over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. Temperatures will be a bit cooler today and tonight before a warming trend returns with an increase in cloud cover again tomorrow into the weekend.
I’ll be keeping a partly to mostly cloudy sky with rain chances returning to the forecast by late tomorrow and continuing through our upcoming weekend and into next week.
NWS/Weather Prediction Center estimates that we’ll see, on average, around 1/2 inch of rain during the next seven day period with isolated heavier totals.
Have a good Thursday..
