… More of the Same.. Plus More Heat …
… Saharan Dust Comes and Goes …
On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… surface high pressure is located to our east over the eastern USA with another high pressure area over northwestern New Mexico and southwestern Colorado. Between the two high pressure areas, a trough, or line, of surface low pressure extends southward from a surface low over southeastern Colorado into New Mexico and far west Texas. A stationary front extends westward from central Georgia and Alabama west northwestward into Arkansas then westward along the Red River. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are south southwesterly.
On the upper air map… a broad ridge, or line, of upper air high pressure, acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere, extends across the southern USA. As a result of this upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are easterly less than 20 mph.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
Upper level high pressure will be holding strong overhead. This keeps the “lid” on the atmosphere which means rain chances are out of the forecast and temperatures remain above to well above average seasonal averages over the next seven days.
Several new batches of Saharan dust will be moving into our area today into tomorrow through the weekend into early next week.
Have a good Thursday..
