Forecasting Austin and South Central Texas Weather Since 1984

… A Dry and Stable Weather Pattern Over the Next Seven Days …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… surface high pressure is located over the southeastern USA and the western Atlantic Ocean basin as well as west of our area over the four corners region. A trough.. or line.. of surface low pressure extending southwestward from southeastern Colorado into New Mexico and far west Texas around El Paso. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are southerly.

On the upper air map… an upper air low pressure disturbance is over the Great Lakes state with a trough, or line, of low pressure extending southward into the Tennessee Valley region. Upper level high pressure, acting like a “lid” on the atmosphere, is over the southern plains westward through the southwestern USA. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are westerly at about 15 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Our atmosphere continues to be quite stable with above average afternoon temperatures expected in the coming days.

This weather pattern will continue through the balance of the week and into next weekend with little or no chance of precipitation.

Have a good Wednesday..
