… A Dry and Stable Weather Pattern Continues …
… Low Level Moisture Increases Late Week into the Weekend …
… No Cold Frontal Passages Expected Through Saturday …
On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… surface high pressure is centered over northern Louisiana. A southward moving weakening cold front extends from middle Tennessee westward into central Arkansas where it becomes a stationary front into central Oklahoma then northwestward into central and eastern Colorado. A trough, or line of surface low pressure, extends southward from a surface low over southeastern Colorado and northeastern New Mexico into far west Texas and southern New Mexico and northern Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds over south central Texas are light and variable.
On the upper air map… a broad trough, or line, of low pressure extends southward from east of Hudson Bay to the eastern half of the USA. Over the western half of the USA, the upper level wind pattern is more zonal (west-to-east). As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are northwesterly 40 to 45 mph.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
A dry and stable weather pattern is in place over our area as we start the week.
As surface high pressure, just to our east, continues to move eastward, we’ll see a return southerly wind today. Winds will actually be a little more south southwesterly today into tomorrow with a big warm up and well above average temperatures expected.
By tomorrow night into Wednesday and continuing through the balance of the week through the upcoming weekend, we’ll see more of a south southeasterly surface wind with a better return of low level moisture. Light night and early morning low cloudiness and patchy fog will make a return to the area by early Wednesday with more noticeable low level cloud deck in the overnight Wednesday night into early Thursday and continuing through the weekend.
Even with the return of low level moisture, I don’t see much of a chance of rain until we see a weakening cold front moves into Texas by next Monday into Tuesday. Models do not agree with one another as to the movement of the front and timing of precipitation so, as a result, I’ll keep rain chances slim on Monday and will continue to watch the atmospheric models to see if we can get better agreement on solutions.
Have a good Monday..
