Updated 915am CT – Thursday / 05 April 2018

… Another Cold Front Due Tomorrow Night and Another Early Next Week …
… Scattered Quick Moving Thunderstorms with Friday Night Front …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… a stationary front extends is off the Texas coast over the northwestern Gulf of Mexico. Developing surface low pressure is over western Kansas and eastern Colorado with a cold front extending through the low from northern Kansas into Colorado and Wyoming. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are east southeasterly.

On the upper air map… a trough, or line, of upper level low pressure is from east of Hudson Bay into the southeastern USA. As result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are westerly 55 to 60 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Southeasterly winds and humidity are once again in place across our area.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms again possible by late tomorrow into the post midnight hours tomorrow night as a cold front quickly approaches and moves through the area. Some stronger thunderstorms are possible across central and eastern Texas.. mainly in areas distant north through east of the Austin metro area.. for late tomorrow into tomorrow night.

Much cooler temperatures will follow the front for tomorrow night through Saturday.

Our next cold front will approach the area by next Monday with the possibility of rain showers and thunderstorms mainly in areas east of Austin.

Over the next seven days, NWS/Weather Prediction Center guidance suggests rainfall locally will average 1/4 inch or less.

Have a good Thursday..
