… A Weak Cold Front Has Moved Through the Area This Morning …
… Southerly Winds Again by Afternoon Today as Front Turns into a Warm Front and Goes Back North …
… A Stronger Cold Front Passes with Scattered Rain Showers and Thunderstorms Tomorrow into Tomorrow Night …
On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a cold front extends from a surface low pressure area over the Louisiana/Arkansas border northwest of Monroe into east Texas to just north of the IH10 corridor through New Braunfels to near Del Rio then into southwest As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are light easterly.
On the upper air map… a rather zonal (east-to-west) upper air wind pattern prevails over the USA with an embedded strong upper air low pressure disturbance over western Arizona and southern California. As result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are westerly 80 to 90 mph.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
A weak cold front has passed through the area this morning but will quickly turn into a
warm front and sweep back northward this afternoon. Southerly winds will increase with
low level moisture increasing tonight into tomorrow as the stronger upper air low pressure disturbance to our distant west and an associated cold front sweeps quickly through the area by tomorrow evening. Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.. some thunderstorms may be strong to severe with a larger hail and damaging straight line .. are expected as the front moves through the area.
Much cooler temperatures will overspread the area tomorrow night into Wednesday as skies clear.
Return southerly winds and humidity again by Thursday into Friday with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms again possible by late Thursday into Friday into Saturday as a weak cold front approaches and weakens/washes out just to our northwest on Friday.
Our next cold front will approach the area by next Monday with the possibility of rain showers and thunderstorms.
Have a good Monday..
