Forecasting Austin and South Central Texas Weather Since 1984

Updated 915am CT – Tuesday / 06 March 2018

… Drier and More Stable For Much of the Remainder of the Week …
… Another Disturbance and Cold Front Friday Night into Saturday …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… a developing surface low is over northwestern Iowa with a cold front extending from the low into northern Indiana and middle Tennessee into southeastern Louisiana and the northwest Gulf of Mexico and far south Texas. Surface high pressure is behind the front over the intermountain west into northwest Texas. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are light northwesterly.

On the upper air map… a north-to-south trough, or line, of low pressure is centered over the central USA. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are westerly 75 to 85 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

As cooler and more stable air moves into our area in the wake of yesterday’s front, we’ll see clouds continue to decrease today.

The drier and more stable weather pattern will prevail tonight through early Friday before another upper air low pressure disturbance and associated cold front move through the area by late Friday into Saturday.

Drier and cooler air will, once again, move into the area by Saturday night into Sunday.

Over the next seven days, according to guidance from the NWS/Weather Prediction Center, rainfall over the IH35 corridor will average 1/4 inch or less.

Have a good Tuesday..
