On the Weather Map…
On the surface map… a stationary front extends westward from northern Florida into the northern Gulf of Mexico where it turns into a warm front and extends into far south Texas. A developing low pressure area and an associated cold front extends from southern Nebraska into norther Colorado. A trough, or line, of low pressure extends from Colorado south southwestward into far west Texas and New Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are east southeasterly.
On the upper air map… a strong counter clockwise rotating upper air low pressure disturbance is along the California coast northwest of the Los Angeles area. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are westerly 75 to 85 mph.
What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…
The cold front, that moved through the area last Saturday night, has now become a warm front and returning northwestward resulting in increased clouds along and patchy fog and drizzle as the warm, moist air off the Gulf of Mexico flows up and over the increasingly shallow layer of surface based cold air. By later tonight into early tomorrow, the front will seep northward through our area scouring out the cooler surface based air.
As another cold front move through the area by late Wednesday into early Thursday, we’ll see rain and thunderstorms peak.
Once the front passes by early Thursday morning, a drier and more stable weather pattern will prevail Thursday through Friday night.
Another approaching cold front and associated upper air low pressure disturbance will affect the area by Saturday, Sunday and into next week. The front should pass through the area by late next Monday with rain chances decreasing thereafter.
Precipitation over our south central Texas region, over the next seven day period, will average somewhere in the 1/4 to 1/2 inch range.

A 30% chance of rain in the morning increasing to 60% by afternoon; where rainfall occurs, it will average 1/4 inch or less. High 73. Light easterly wind becoming southeasterly 4 to 8 mph by afternoon.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT…. Cloudy with increasing rain chances. Numerous rain showers and thunderstorms with associated lightning risk as a cold front passes late. Rain chances increases to 60%; where rainfall occurs, it will average 1/4 inch. Cooler after midnight. Low 54. Southwesterly wind becoming northerly wind 5 to 12 mph.
