Updated 915am CT – Friday / 09 February 2018

… Clouds are Back with Rain Chances Tonight Into the Weekend …
… A Strong Cold Front Due Late Tomorrow …
… After Monday Sunshine, Unsettled Weather for Most of Next Week …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… surface high pressure is over the USA eastern seaboard with developing low pressure from eastern Colorado southward into west Texas and New Mexico. A southward moving cold front extends westward from a surface low over western Illinois through northern and central Kansas then west northwestward into Wyoming. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are southerly.

On the upper air map… a broad trough, or line, of low pressure extends southward from Hudson Bay over much of the USA. An upper air high pressure area is offshore of the California coast. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are west southwesterly around 50 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Another series of upper level disturbances and a surface cold front will approach the area today into tomorrow with clouds and increasing/thickening clouds and slim rain chances. Precipitation amounts, during this period, will average a few hundredths of an inch at the most.

In the wake of a cold front late tomorrow afternoon, clouds and increasing rain chances will persist Saturday night into Sunday and through the first half before giving way to more sunshine and warmer temperatures on Monday.

Another surface cold front will approach the area by Tuesday night as another upper air low pressure disturbance moves eastward through the area. In the wake of the front and upper air disturbance, it looks like clouds will linger along with slim rain chances for the middle into latter part of next week.

Have a good Friday and a safe weekend..
