… Clouds Thicken into the Weekend with Slim Rain Chances …
… Another Cold Front Due Late Sunday and Again Tuesday Night …

On the Weather Map…

On the surface map… surface high pressure, in the wake is yesterday’s cold front, is centered over the northern and central Mississippi valley. The cold front has moved into the northwestern Gulf of Mexico and northeast Mexico. As a result of this surface weather pattern, our surface winds are north northeastward.

On the upper air map… a trough, or line, of low pressure extends from Hudson Bay southward into the southeastern USA. An upper level low pressure disturbance is off the west coast of the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula. As a result of the upper air weather pattern, the 30,000 foot winds over our local area are westerly 55 to 65 mph.

What I am Seeing As I Look Ahead…

Cooler air continues to settle southward over the area as the upper air low pressure disturbance, to our distant west, moves overhead. Clouds will continue to thicken and lower over the area with a few patches of rain developing tonight into tomorrow. Some patchy fog may develop overnight into tomorrow morning. Current short range high resolution model data and NWS guidance suggests that rainfall tonight into tomorrow will average less than 1/4 inch.

We’ll see a wind shift into the west by late Saturday night into Sunday morning which will dry out the atmosphere after sunrise Sunday. As a result, we’ll see unseasonably warm high temperatures on Sunday before another dry cold front arrives by Sunday night.

The latest guidance is suggesting increased cloud cover and even some slim precipitation probabilities by late on Monday into Tuesday in advance of another stronger cold front due Tuesday night.

Skies will partially clear Wednesday and Thursday as cooler air once again overtakes the area.

Have a good Friday..
