Austin / Travis County and South Central Texas Weather Update #5
Prepared by UT University/Incident Meteorologist Troy Kimmel
925am CT – Thursday / 07 December 2017
.. Final Update ..
A deep broad upper level trough, or line, of upper air low pressure is moving eastward across
the central USA on this Thursday morning. It has been responsible for the overrunning pattern,
with its associated clouds and light precipitation, locally over the past day or two. Beneficial
rainfall of over an inch has been recorded in many areas.
We did not see many reports of wintry precipitation over our immediate area and those few
reports were limited to areas in the western more hilly areas of Travis and Williamson counties
last night.
With the upper air trough moving eastward, we’ll see a drier and more stable weather pattern
develop tonight into early Friday with skies clearing and temperatures getting a little closer to
the freezing mark first thing Friday morning.
Expect plenty of sunshine with warmer temperatures for the weekend into next week.
This is my last statement on this weather event.
